Boundless Grace

 Jesus uses the story of Matthew 20: 1-16 to teach us that God’s generosity is made manifest in His boundless grace towards us. The landowner hires workers at different times yet when evening comes, each receives the same wage. The first workers received exactly what they had been promised. Their problem was not that they received too little, but that others received more than they thought was deserved. They might be logically correct from human perspective, but grace does not operate according to our calculations. Grace challenges our tendency to compare, compete, and keep score. It reminds us that life unfolds on different timelines. For example, one person may find stability quickly, while another waits for years. One may receive an opportunity early, while another receives it much later. And yet, different timing does not mean different worth.

Do I lose anything because God is generous to someone else? Does another person’s blessing diminish God’s goodness toward the other? God’s boundless grace invites us to live with gratitude, serve faithfully, forgive generously, welcome others, and celebrate God’s goodness wherever it appears. 

What would it look like for me to receive God’s grace with gratitude and extend that same grace to others?

Prayer: Generous God, thank you for your boundless grace. Help us trust your timing, celebrate your goodness in others, and generously share the grace we have received. Amen.
