Rector’s Corner and Sunday Reflection

Rector’s Corner: Natasha and Krista wrote an uplifting article about our Commemoration Service of the First Anglican Mass in Canada.  Please find time to visit our diocesan website at http://www.vancouver.anglican.ca Thanks to both of you!
Our new Parish Church signage is up.  Thanks to Alec Athey, Andy Whitmore, the Wardens and members of the Church Council for getting this project into completion.
Last Sunday, our Diocesan Bishop, The Rt. Reverend Melissa Skelton, led the blessing and dedication of the new Diocesan Offices and Archives.  The new location is on 1410 Nanton Avenue, Vancouver. The Bishop and the Synod staff would love you to visit the office at your convenience.  The reception is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.  Ask for Mr. Phil Colvin.

Sunday’s Reflection: Being identified as a “disciple of Jesus” has been considered high praise.  The disciples, after all, were the handpicked group of followers who lived, learned, and laboured alongside Jesus.  They were commissioned to heal the sick, baptize sinners, and proclaim the Good News of God in Christ to the ends of the earth.
The path of discipleship is hard.  It leads us through suffering and even death, and it costs us dearly.  But in the end, we discover that it is this path that leads to resurrection and life!          THE REVD. MARSHALL A. JOLLY

THE FIVE MARKS OF MISSION
THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH IS THE MISSION OF CHRIST

  • TO PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM
  • TO TEACH, BAPTIZE AND NURTURE NEW BELIEVERS
  • TO RESPOND TO HUMAN NEED BY LOVING SERVICE
  • TO SEEK TO TRANSFORM UNJUST STRUCTURES OF SOCIETY, TO CHALLENGE VIOLENCE OF EVERY KIND AND TO PURSUE PEACE AND RECONCILIATION
  • TO STRIVE TO SAFEGUARD THE INTEGRITY OF CREATION AND SUSTAIN AND RENEW THE LIFE OF THE EARTH
