Sunday’s Reflection: The Trinity is a theological concept that speaks about our (Be) Longing into a community… The idea of God as three yet one is simply a description of how we shape and experience the love of God in our faith community: First, as our creator, Second, as our Saviour. And third, as our comforter. The church has long said that our experience of God is Trinitarian.
While we could engage in a lot of theological debate, I would still say that we are part of a family. That is another thing we all have experienced. Our longing for a community that is Loving, supportive, accepting, encouraging, helping, regardless of who and what we, are the concrete expression of the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit given to us on the day of Pentecost.
(Be) Longing, it is relational, expresses equality and respect, and has a hopeful sense to it. We can be so much more Together. God’s family. All of us. (Be) Longing.
In Matthew 28:16-20, Jesus is giving the disciples a mandate and telling them instructions, so they understand what their mission is in the world. The formula, “in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,” is the Trinitarian wording that we all hear in baptisms and in our creeds.
Explore the Five Marks of Mission that we are committed to as Christian-Anglican. I wonder what each of these looks like or could look like in our current community and congregation.
Prayer: Gracious God, you have called us to create disciples, followers of Jesus, and to spread your word. Bless us and guide us as we go out into the world to respond and to live into your call to each of us. In the name of the Holy Trinity, we pray. Amen.
