From Fear to Courage, Doubt to Faith
In today’s Gospel, the disciples are gathered behind locked doors, gripped by fear and uncertainty. Into this space of anxiety, the risen Christ appears and speaks words that echo through every generation: “Peace be with you.” He breathes on them and sends them forth, turning fearful followers into courageous witnesses. Christ is our peace and His presence drives away fear. Thomas, often remembered for his doubt, represents many of us. He longs for tangible proof, something he can see and touch. Yet when he encounters the risen Lord, his doubt gives way to one of the most profound confessions of faith: “My Lord and my God!” Jesus gently reminds us that blessed are those who believe without seeing, an invitation to trust deeply even when certainty feels out of reach.
In Acts, Peter boldly proclaims this same risen Christ to the people. Peter’s transformation from one who once denied Jesus to one who now proclaims Him with courage reveals the power of the resurrection at work.
Christ meets us in our fears, strengthens us in our doubts, and sends us out with a message of hope. As we continue our journey of faith, may we open our hearts to the peace of Christ, embrace Him in trust, and boldly proclaim His as Lord.
Prayer: Risen Lord, speak peace to our troubled hearts. Strengthen us when we are afraid and transform us into courageous witnesses of the gospel. Amen!
