Reflection Salt and Light

Salt and light are two essential elements of life. Salt enhances flavor and preserves what is good; light reveals truth and pushes back darkness. Neither exists for itself alone—both are meant to be shared. In the same way, our faith is not something to hide or dilute, but something to live out openly and authentically.

In today’s Gospel, Matthew 5:13–20, Jesus reminds us that we are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. He also challenges us to go beyond outward obedience. Righteousness is not simply about following rules, but about allowing God’s love to shape our hearts and guide our actions. Our light shines through the expression of our faith in both word and deed. When our lives have a positive impact on others, we become a source of light for them.As disciples, we are invited to reflect Christ in the ordinary moments of daily life. When we live the Gospel with sincerity and courage, we glorify God and help illuminate the path for others.
